SNOW!!!

We too had snow today! It was beautiful and lots of fun!
Long story short, we woke up to it snowing. An hour later, it was VERY heavy and covering the ground. My school was not canceled so we headed to school. After leaving the house, it was very obvious school should have been closed. Anna's school never opened however, my school did not close until 11. Meaning, I dealt with crazy kids and a 1st grader who so wanted to be at home.
We still had time to play a build a snowman when we got home. Yes, I know, our snowman is pretty ugly. But hey, we had fun!!!

Here's a picture of our house when we left for school this morning.

And here's Anna with her mini snowman. She built this right outside my classroom while I monitored snow crazy 6th graders.

This is the poor pitiful snowman that Anna and I built.

Of course, I can't leave Jay out of the blog. He really enjoyed playing outside. We used cookies for the eyes of the snowman, and as you can see he stole one before we could put it on.

Halloween and Haircut

This time last year, Jay was just 2 weeks old. He celebrated Halloween laying in my lap passing out candy. So, yesterday was the first time for he and Anna to trick or treat together. Anna was not happy at first having to wait on Jay, but as soon as we caught up with some of her friends she quit complaining. Jay walked taking in all of the excitement around him as Anna ran as fast as she could from door to door. Jay even walked to two doors holding his pumpkin basket like a big boy. Here's a pic of my little monkey dancing to his personal concert given by none other than the famous Hannah Montanna!

Jay walked the first part of the subdivision all by himself. Eventuallly I scooped him up and walked with the rest of the group. As I was walking my arm went to sleep. That's what made me realize he passed out while costume watching from my arms. Anna and I had to walk back home to drop him off before finishing the rest of the subdivision. This is how we left him.

Anna has been needing to get her hair trimmed. I called the lady who normally cuts our hair and the earliest appointment she had was 4 weeks away! It just couldn't wait that long. So, today we went to Wonder Cuts and got both Anna and Jay's hair cut! Anna just got her ends trimmed. I guess by looking at what I paid $10 for I need to learn how to do it myself.

Jay on the other hand got his mullet turned into a big boy haircut! He looks so grown to me! Here he is in the chair like a big boy!

And here's a side pic of the finished product. He sure made the lady earn her money! He did not want to be still for anything. He wanted to watch everyone else instead!

After I gave Jay a bath, Justin volunteered to put him to bed. Justin's idea of putting him to bed however, laying down with Jay in our bed and falling asleep together. After 10 minutes of no noise coming from our bedroom, I decided I should check on them. When I entered I found the Moss boys asleep. Bongo was even joining in on the fun. I thought this was too cute to pass up!

One last thought....It was a year ago today when Jay first got sick. I remember how horrible it was to see my baby so sick and not being able to do anything about it! A year later, he is walking around a big bellied, happy, healthy boy! I could not ask for more!

No Longer A Baby :(

Last Saturday (October 18th) Jay turned 1 year old! Wow, how time flies! He had a really good day. He was able to share a cake and his party with my cousin's little girl, Olivia, who is 8. They all had a great time!

Then that night he got to share his birthday with Justin's grandparents' anniversary. We went out to eat and had them both a cake. Boy did he pig out! There was blue icing everywhere!!!

He is so much fun! He loves to dance, is walking everywhere, constantly giving me open-mouthed kisses, and smiles at everyone! Boy, if he could only stay this way forever!

Jay even got the new Elmo for his birthday. Here is Anna playing with it in the car on the way home. She sure does love her brother!!

Sleeping Habits...

As promised I have taken more pictures of Justin sleeping with the kids. It amazes me that they can sleep this way! For those of you who missed the blog about sleeping positions, this is the way I find my family when I come home from grocery shopping.

I think I was actually at a girl scout leader's meeting this night. Anna was in her room and this is how I found the boys. Yes, Justin is asleep. At first I thought he was faking. I realized he wasn't when I took pictures and he didn't move! And no, Jay is not drinking that bottle. It's empty and just laying on his face.

This night I was actually home. I was putting Anna to bed, and Justin was putting Jay to bed. When I walked in the bedroom, this is how I found them.

Getting OLDer...

In less than a month my sweet little boy will be a year old. For the past few weeks he has taken a step here and there. Then on Saturday he walked the length of the coffee table.... 17 steps to be exact!! Soon there will be no stopping him!

Anna too is getting older. She started first grade this year and absolutely LOVES school! During the storm she commented that she was bored. When I asked her what she wanted to do, her answer was "Go to school!"

I am finding myself getting older too. I'm not sure why I thought my kids would but I on the other hand would stay young. :) Sunday I found my first gray hair!!! I'm 28...I'm not supposed to have gray hair!!!

Speaking of getting older... thanks to Gustav we were able to go home and visit old friends. We also got to go to my best friend's daughter's (Hana's) birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. It was alot of fun getting to see and visit with everyone. Dori, Stephanie, and I acted like little kids at the picture booth. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner to show you those pics. But I was able to capture a pic of the two of them on my camera. Hopefully we will be able to do it again soon!!

Another Day Out

Teachers had to report to school on Monday to prepared for our students on Tuesday. Some idiot ran into a light poll that morning causing us to be without power again. Luckily it came back on and we were able to have school as planned.
The students were excited to be back, especially the ones that were still without power at home. School was their escape from the darkness I guess.
All of the food at school spoiled, and we had not yet received a new shipment of food. So the students were served MRE's and bottled water for lunch. Luckily, we received our shipment Tuesday afternoon b/c MRE's were hectic!! The teachers walked around with scissors during lunch cutting open bags that the students couldn't. Imagine 9 teachers helping open 219 students lunches...all of which contained numerous packages to open!!
Things are just now getting back to normal with the students, and now we are out again!!! They cancelled school today b/c of hurricane force winds from Ike. I'm hoping this is the last time b/c I sure am dreading making these days up in the future!

Made it through

We didn't have much damage from the hurricane...missing shingles and broken gutter....nothing bad at all. There were others with much worse damage though.
We decided to make the trip to North LA today since I am offically out of school until Monday and unoffically out for an extended closure. Who knows when I'll be back at work. They are reporting that in 10 days half of Ascension will be with electricity.
I would go in to details but I'm not sure I have enough space to write it all!

Riding it out...

Well, it looks as though Gustav will be here tomorrow. It could arrive anywhere between tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. Justin has made the decision for us to stay here (notice I said Justin). It's not that I'm scared of the storm, I'm just not looking forward to being out of electricity! I know Anna will go insane. I'm not too worried about Jay though. He will play lights/air or no lights/air. The air went out last week and we kept the lights off to keep the house cooler. Jay did not seem to mind one bit.
I think we are prepared, hopefully I won't be proved wrong. I went to the store and got enough formula, diapers, and wipes to last 2 weeks. I bought bottled and gallon water, canned veggies and fruit, breakfast bars, bread, sandwhich meat, batteries, tylenol, paper cups, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Now that I've filled you in on my grocery list feel free to let me know what I've forgotten. :)
As soon as this place is back to normal, I'll fill you in on the fun we have!!

Back in the swing...

School has offically started! I had to report today and the students will start Friday. I am not ready for summer to be over! It seems like just a few weeks ago we were telling the bus drivers "MOVE THAT BUS"!
We actually have our first two weeks lessons planned but I have a long way to go before my room is ready. I decided to rearrange my classroom and decorate big time this year. Hopefully I will have it finished by Friday when the kids arrive. If not, they will be looking at half done bulletin boards for a few days.

For those of you who have been waiting for pictures here are few that Justin's granddad sent to me that he took the last time we were up there. Hopefully I will figure out my new camera and how to download the pictures soon!

This is a picture of Anna putting on make up. Anna just LOVES SueSue's dressing table and the fact that she will let her play in all of her neat stuff!

Sue Sue and Jay posing for the camera.

Jay seeing what all he can get away with!

The last month...

It seems as though we have been very busy yet have not really done anything at all at the same time.
The kids and I spent a week and a half visiting family and friends that we don't get to see very often. It was alot of fun yet very relaxing.
Other than that we've just been at home. We had 2 dr.s appointments last week as well as 2 trips to the after hours clinic. Both kids have been sick. :(
This week is VBS and I'm in charge of snacks/recreation for the preschool. I'm still tring to decide which snacks and games we are going to do the rest of the week. I have several ideas but not enough days to do them all.

In other news:
Jay has now said Weeeee, Huh (I swear he says it everytime Justin calls his name), Dada, and MaMa (only once in the middle of the night :( ).

Anna is finally getting a tooth in that she lost months ago!

Jay is pulling up and standing every chance he gets. I think once school starts and he's around all of the other kids again, he'll take off and there will be no stopping him.

I got to visit with Lauren O'Brien Harris for a brief moment at the mall on Monday! And yes, Molly is as cute in person as she is in all of the photos!

I finally got a new camera so hopefully my next post will be full of pictures!

Another First

I took Anna and a friend to Chuck E Cheese today. While I was passing out the pizza, Jay decided he wanted a piece so he snatched a piece as fast as he could. He immediately let go though because it was extremely hot! However, he continued to cry for a piece until I broke down and gave it to him. He ate the entire piece!!! I can't seem to stop the boy....he is constantly eating!!!

Aaaarrrggghhh!

We went to Bleu Bayou today. On the way home, Justin misplaced our bag. Not sure if he put in beside the car or on top of the car. Needless to say it is gone! The people at the lost and found said that if it were in the parking lot someone probably stole it! Justin blames it on being Friday the 13th weekend! It had Jay's swim suit, towels, ear plugs, sunscreen, some other baby items, my new sunglasses, my phone, and my camera. Some luck, huh?!?!

If I have (had) any of your numbers, you may want to resend them to me. :) If I don't hear from you, I'll know you don't want to talk to me anymore (or ever). LOL!

Sleepy Boy

Since I have not had time to grocery shop yet this week, I thought that I would share the picture I got of Jay sleeping yesterday. Before I must explain why is was so worn out.
We have already had a busy week and it is only Tuesday. I am working on the parish curriculum this week and Anna is taking swimming lessons. Anna is taking an advanced class for kids who already know how to swim. Afterwards, she stays to help with a friend's little boy who has never swam before and is the only one in his class. So..I am at work from 8 to 3. Then I rush to pick up the kids and head to swimming lessons. We do not leave until 5:30. So our day is pretty full. While at swimming lessons, Jay has wanted to get in the water as well. So for the last hour, he and I get in with the kids. Yesterday really wore hime out! When I got home and started cooking supper, I put him in his exersaucer. Before I knew it he was asleep.

Tonight however he cried until I rocked him to sleep. I expect that the we will all be worn out by Friday!

Grocery Shopping

I like to do my grocery shopping at night. That way, Justin can watch the kids and have them ready for bed by the time I get home. The last two times I've been shopping however, Justin has had them both asleep.

This is what I came home to last week. I'm still not sure how they all ended up where they are.

This week:

It's scary to think about where they may end up next week. :)

6 month pictures

Jay will be 7 months old in a few days. We had his 6 month pictures made a few weeks ago. I have tried posting since then but it has not worked. Anyway, I am tired of trying so I am going to leave you with his pictures and hope it works this time.
