News
Jay ran a low grade fever all weekend, and I was beginning to get worried. I thought it was still from the tubes. Then when we were sitting in the ENT office for our follow up visit I noticed that he has a tooth!!!!

Tubes
Jay got his tubes today! Hopefully this will help the nasty ear infections. The dr. said his ears looked really bad today; just Tuesday they looked good. Who knows!
I was very surprised how easy it was. Alot of people told me to be prepared for the screaming when coming off of the anaesthesia. However Jay did great! We only had to stay about 15 minutes (the dr. said it would be between 30 min. and an hour!). As soon as I gave him a bottle he was good to go! I guess my baby is getting use to all of this poking and prodding that he has been receiving since birth. :)

Spring break is over and it's back to work. :(
Anna is in Disney World until Sunday with her grandparents. Yes, she is missing a week of school, and I'm ok with it. I talked to her a few minutes ago and she is having a blast!
Jay is getting tubes in his ears Thursday. He gained a pound in 2 weeks! And he's trying to crawl!
Other than that, it's pretty quite here.

Another Visit
Jay is 5 months old today and went for another visit to the dr. today. He is now 13 pounds 2 ounces!! He still has an ear infection in both ears though. :( (This is week 5!) We are calling an ENT tomorrow b/c we are on our 3rd round of antibiotics and nothing has worked. Other than that everything is good with him. He is suprisingly still happy even with the infection.
I go for jury duty tomorrow. YUCK!!! I do get to miss school though and get away from my crazy acting kids!

Ramblings
SACS will be at school tomorrow. For those of you who do not know, that is our accreditation agency. I should be working on my lessons, but am instead being lazy! I'm sure everything will be fine. I tend to really screw my lessons up when I have them planned out word for word anyway.
Jay went for his 4 month well baby visit. Only he's not so well. He has 2 ear infections and a wheezing in his chest that won't go away. The dr. put him on prevacid for his reflux. She thinks this is the cause for the other ailments. Also, he has dropped from the 10th percentile to the 5th in the weight category which really worries the dr. He is barely 12 pounds!
Anna learned to ride a bike without training wheels last week. She caught on the first time and hasn't had any major crashes yet! Although, she looks pretty cute in her helmet and pads.
Other than that nothing going on here. Exciting life huh??!!

A Week Of Firsts
1. Anna went to her first Mardi Gras parade. A friend of mine, Jill and I took Anna and her little boy, Caden. We had lots of fun, clean fun might I add for those of you who are curious. We went to the Spanish town parade. Didn't see any nudity...just a few funny looking people dressed up. Anna had lots of fun catching beads. She also made a new friend...weird friend might I add. She was a mom of two who decided it was okay to pick my child up and run after a float to get her a stuffed animal. It all turned out okay, but I was a little worried to see her running holding my child. She did get the pink flamingo she was after.
2. Anna had a friend over who spent the night. The first was that she did not argue with this friend. Usually, she has atleast two or three disagreements with her friends. Anna and Shana played great. Did not have a disagreement until this almost noon(Shana had been here since about 6 last night). They made up about a 45 seconds later.
3. Jay rolled over from back to front! He's been trying for a week or so. He's been getting his entire body over except for his shoulder, but today he accomplished his goal. It probably won't happen again for a while though b/c he has not rolled from his stomach to his back in quite sometime. (although he accomplished this sometime ago.)

4. Anna saw a Hannah Montana concert. Ok...maybe not a true concert, but we did see the movie which was like a concert. I do suggest going to see this...even I thought it was awesome! A true 3-D movie! I was even dancing, singing, and clapping. There were kids up and dancing all over the theatre. Before the movie started, the manager came in to encourage the kids to do whatever they please b/c it was a concet event. (BTW...they showed previews of 2 upcoming 3-D movies which looked awesome as well! It looks as like you can truely touch the characters!!! One is coming out this summer...Hidden Treasure or something like that. Another in August, a kids movie, something about a fly who goes to the moon. We hardly ever go to the movies, but I will be seeing both! I have never seen 3-D like this before.)
5. It's 10:30 on a school night and I am not tired. Everyone in my house is asleep but me. I might add that I have my whole week completely planned test and all. (Yes, we have been out of school for 2 days due to Mardi Gras, but I NEVER make my tests before the school week starts!)
6. The laundry is caught up, the dishes are done, all of Jay's bottles are clean, and Anna's room is clean all at the same time. I do need to clean the bathrooms, sweep, mop, and vacuum...this will have to wait until tomorrow. Anyone know a good, cheap maid??
7. My dog has an outfit. Ok..this did not happen this week. Justin bought Bongo his first and only (probably ever) outfit for Chirstmas. I only agreed b/c it was an LSU jersey.

In other news...yes, Ashley, Anna turned 6 in January!! My baby girl is growing up! She has lost 4 teeth in a matter of 2 months, is having friends call her on the phone, and can acutally read! We can no longer spell words in front of her b/c she knows what we are talking about. :(
OK..I could go on forever but won't. I need to atleast try and go to bed! :(

Weight Check Up
Well, we went to the doctor today for a weight check. Jay has finally hit 11 pounds!! He gained a pound and a half in the last month. However, he is still in the 10th percentile for his age. The doctor said that she is happy as long as he maintains where he is at.
In other news, Justin told Anna she could have a rabbit for her birthday. Luckily, she believed us that rabbits are mean and nasty. So, instead she got 2 frogs. They are tiny and really cute (believe it or not). Helen and Kermitt are their names. Not sure how she came up with those names.
Well, American Idol is on!! I better get off of this thing. LOL!

Milestones
Jay has learned to roll from his stomach to his back. He did it for the first time about 2 or 3 weeks ago. When Justin told me he had, I did not believe him. He did not do it again for another week. Today, however was the first time I have been able to catch it on video. (Disclaimer: My child does wear clothes. He just happens to be naked in all of my videos. )
(Uploading videos takes forever!)
After catching Jay on video Anna just had to be the actess that she stives to be. Here she is telling us what she wants from Santa. Sad thing is that she won't be getting what she wants. :( (Except for the bicycle)

Smiling

Today I got Jay on video smiling! He was so happy all morning! Then we went to have pictures taken this afternoon and he wasn't so happy. He was hungry by the time they got to us. We went to Sears and had to wait due to computer problems. We still got a few good shots in before he started screaming his head off!
Enjoy....just ignore the annoying voice in the background.

All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth

Well, not exactly her two front teeth. More like her bottom two and top one. Anna has lost 3 teeth in the last month and a half. We are currently waiting for the second top tooth to fall out. The dentist told her Monday that she should lose the top two before Christmas. Sure enough she lost one yesterday!

I tried taking pictures last night of the kids in the Christmas pajamas (thanks for the pj's Mimi). It was difficult getting them both to cooperate at the same time. We are going to get pictures made with Santa later this week. I want them to wear their Christams pajamas then too. I just haven't quite talked Anna into wearing them to the mall. :) Also, we are having family pictures made Sunday. I am just not sure how to make sure Jay is awake. I scheduled them at a time during the day when Jay is usually awake. The problem is that Jay falls asleep everytime we get into the car. He is then hard to wake up. Any suggestions from you moms out there?
I walked into the room the other day to find Bongo laying in Jay's boppy pillow. I think he may have more of a jealousy issue than Anna does!

Rambling...again!
I have finally decided to wait until after Christmas to go back to school. I never wanted to have to take Jay so soon to daycare and that was what made my decision for me. It is the RSV season and that is the last thing I want my baby to go through. This is also time for Jay and Mommy to spend one on one time all day every day that may not be possible later. My students will just have to retaught and retrained in Jan. I can always make up that time with my students but not with Jay! He is laying here beside me as I type smiling and cooing! I guess he is telling me that I have made the right decision.
I am however going to school today to help work on the benchmark exam we give every 9weeks. I am taking Jay with me for everyone to see. So many of my coworkers have sent encouraging notes, gifts, and prayers but have not gotten the chance to meet the little guy.
On another note, my sister-in law just found out that she is having a baby girl! (Congrats Jody and Miranda!) I guess Jay will just have to put up with being the only boy for awhile. They will only be about 7 months apart. Hopefully one day we will live closer so that they can grow up spending time with each other!
Well, Christmas time is here! I love Christmas but seem to be a little behind this year. So many people I know have already decorated and finished their shopping. Me however, have not done either. I am almost finished shopping for my kids (thanks to my mom going shopping with me on black Friday!). However, I have not bought anyone else's presents yet! I plan on having it all done this week. But for those of you who know me well, know that I am a procrastinator!!

1 Month
Jay is a month old today and already been through so much. However, he is such a good baby! Last night he slept 6 hours straight without a bottle and the night before it was 8 hours! I am just hoping that this trend continues. Also, we went to the dr. twice this week and he has gained a whopping 7 ounces in three days! I told the ped. the reason is b/c he is eating 2 1/2 ounces every hour and a half to two hours. Not sure I can afford to keep feeding this child. LOL! I am just happy that we are finally on our way to where we are supposed to be and that surgery was all we needed. Even though it was scary to go through, I know it could always be worse. I am just thankful that he had something that could be fixed!

Torn
Right now I am torn between Jay and school. I cannot seem to decide when to return to school. I was planning on returning after the Christmas holidays, but Jay decided to come two weeks earlier than I had planned. My c-section was planned for Nov. 1st, and he was born Oct. 18th. Therefore, my maternity leave will be up before the Christmas holidays. I keep going back and forth. Do I take an extra week or return before Christmas. If I return I will be going back two weeks before the break. However, I would love to stay home with Jay a little longer. On the other hand, I know that my students aren't getting what I could be giving them. At the moment they have a sub who is not a certified teacher. She does have a degree in English, but I teach math. Also, she has not gone to school for teaching and has not had the classroom experience that you receive from college. Justin and I have talked about it and he says that it is my decision. I have considered all of my options and still cannot decide. If I go back that means that I would have to pay day care over the holidays to save Jays spot even though he will not be attending. Then again, I will make more money if I return. The difference of what I would make minus day care costs is several hundred dollars. The money would really help with all of the dr. bills that I have incurred lately. The thing that stinks about my insurance is that it starts over every year on Nov. 1st. Which means I am going to owe for both his birth and his surgery! He was born in Oct. and his surgery was in Nov. Stinks huh? Atleast I think so!! Is it worth it? Should I really be considering my students needs above my own? Aaaahhhh...I just can't decide!!! Even if Jay were to go to day care for two weeks before the break, I would be able to pick him up somewhat early b/c my school ends at 2:30 and his day care is about 2 minutes from my school. I also need to let the day care know ASAP when he will start. They are very sweet and accomodating, but I feel like I am putting them in a bind by not knowing when I will be returning. I know I am rambling, I am just hoping writing all of this will help me decide. At this point it doesn't look like it will!

FOOD!!
He's eating!!!!!! He is working on his 6th feeding of the day without getting sick!!! We will stay in the hospital over night and see the doc again in the morning. Hopefully they will say he is fixed!! Maybe we can go home tomorrow!!! Thanks for the prayers! They have sure worked!!! Without them I could not have handled it!
Another Try!
They have taken the NG tube out of his nose just a little while ago. We are going to try and feed again after they put some medicine in his IV. Hopefully it will work this time!

Day 4
It is now day 4 in the hospital. We got out of PICU yesterday evening. I am not sure of the time as everything is running together right now. His oxygen level is stable which is good. The bad news is that he is still vomiting and has not had anything by mouth in over 24 hours! Right now we are waiting on the surgeon, but it looks as if they are going to have to use an NG tube to clean out his belly. We were going to feed him again this morning if he didn't vomit anymore last night. Well around 1 this morning he vomited! So, we will see!

Update #3
Please keep Jay in your prayers! As of now he is still not keeping anything down. We have tried Pedalyte and will try again in 2 hours. The dr. said that there was a chance he would still get sick at first....and he did! Also, they have tried taking him off of oxygen but his level dropped again. So right now we are just waiting it out. I feel like all of my posts are negative...I appologize!
Update #2
Jay's surgery went well. We are now in ICU on oxygen as a precation. We should start eating around 8 tonight. Hopefully he can keep it down!!

Update
It was confirmed today that it is pyloric stenosis. He will be having surgery tomorrow around 11 am.
